Strictly Forbidden
You are not allowed to reproduce, distribute, copy or sell the contents of RD Studio at any circumstances. Products can’t be sold without being part of a bigger project or work combining RD Studio digital products with other graphics, modeling or digital elements. Also, you are not allowed to use products from RD Studio in similar or any competing services.

How to Install Dynamo Scripts

1. Open Revit
2. From the Manage Tab > Dynamo
3. From Dynamo click File > Open and choose the dyn. file
4. To Run the script click on the Run button

Revit Dynamo script: Join and Unjoin Elements with Order for Revit

This pair of Dynamo scripts automates joining and unjoining Revit elements in a controlled order, supporting categories like structural columns, floors, walls, and foundations. Ideal for BIM coordinators and MEP engineers cleaning models for accurate scheduling and coordination.

Key Features:

  • Controlled Order: Joins/unjoins elements pairwise in a specified sequence (e.g., walls first).
  • Multi-Category Support: Handles OST_StructuralColumns, OST_Floors, OST_Walls, OST_GenericModels, OST_StructuralFoundations.
  • Efficient Filtering: Uses bounding box and optional geometry checks for speed.
  • Log Output: Generates detailed logs of joined/unjoined pairs and success rates.
  • BIM Cleanup: Improves model performance and schedule accuracy with transaction management.

Inputs Required:

  • Element Selection: None (automatically collects from categories).
  • Naming Conventions: None.
  • Template Application: None.
  • Geometric Parameters: None.
  • Randomization Controls: None.
  • Color and Material Settings: None.
  • Level or Height Information: None.
  • Optional: Boolean for precise geometry check (default: False).

Outputs Generated:

  • Elements joined/unjoined in the Revit model.
  • Log report (Dynamo console) with pairs, operations summary, and success rate.

Instructions:

  1. Open Revit 2023–2026 with elements modeled.
  2. Launch Dynamo 2.17+.
  3. For joining: Load Automate join with controlled order .dyn → Run.
  4. For unjoining: Load Unjoin specific or all .dyn → Run.
  5. Verify in Revit (e.g., 3D view) and check Dynamo console for logs.

Required Dynamo Packages:

This script contains the following custom nodes, so if don't have the packages please install it before using our script:

  • Dynamo 2.17+
  • IronPython 2.7 or CPython 3
  • RevitAPI (included with Revit)
  • RevitServices (included with Dynamo)
  • Clockwork 2.17.0 (optional for advanced joining)
